Production Details Hemelrand Vine Garden is a white field blend from a cold, windy marginal site in Hemel & Aarde Ridge at 360m on gravelly clay and sandstone. The vineyard was planted in 2010 to Chardonnay, Roussanne, Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, and Muscat Blanc a Petit Grain. Grower: Hans Evenhuis. Grapes were picked early morning with vineyard sorting and whole bunch pressed. Juice was very lightly settled with no additions, then wild fermented in old barrels of various sizes. Fermentation lasted about two months. The wine stayed on lees for around 12 months, then rested in tank on fine lees without fining for a further six months before bottling.
