Production Details Single-origin Chenin Blanc from Alheit's Nuwedam property in the Paardeberg. 20 hectares of mature dry-farmed bushvine Chenin Blanc on pure decomposed granite, planted between 1972 and 1985 on east-, west-, and north-facing slopes at 300-350m above sea level. Grapes were hand sorted and whole bunch pressed; juice was very lightly settled with no additions; wild fermentation took place in cement eggs, foudres, and old barrels of various sizes for about one month. The wine stayed on lees for around 12 months, then rested in tank on fine lees without fining for a further six months prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes
Nose: thatchy reduction, fynbos, green citrus
Palate: fine-boned, pithy, mouth-watering acidity
