Production Details Harvest lots ranged from 24.4 to 26.8 °Brix and pH 3.22 to 3.70; these are lot-level harvest observations, not finished-wine measurements. Skin contact varied from 8 to 19 days, with manual punch-downs. Lots were racked one or two times before bottling. Maturation was stated as 21 months in barrel; 27% of the barrels were used and one to three years old. The source reports acidity as 6.30 g/L without identifying its acid-equivalent basis. Bottling was by gravity flow. Production comprised 917 cases, 20 cases of magnums and 12 double magnums; the release date was April 1, 2004.
Tasting Notes Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, August 2003: violet and acacia flowers, melted licorice, camphor, blackberries, crème de cassis and subtle toasted new oak; substantial texture, underlying acidity, ripe tannins and a finish exceeding 60 seconds.
