Production Details A June 2008 pre-bottling Wine Advocate note said the 2006 Syrah Raven Series would be bottled after 22 months in oak casks; the August 2009 finished-wine review described its élevage as just under two years in French oak.
Tasting Notes Jeb Dunnuck (December 2011): smoked meat, bacon fat, sage, pepper, blackberry and raspberry, with a full-bodied, seamless and elegant texture. Wine Advocate (August 2009): graphite, blackberry, blueberry, charcoal, licorice, tar and new oak; dense, full-bodied and layered. Wine Spectator (July 2009): blackberry jam, pepper, mineral, sage and chicory. Vinous/Josh Raynolds (November 2009): dark berry, kirsch, graphite, iron and black olive, with a long spicy finish and silky tannins.
