Production Details This is a multi-vintage tawny blend whose component wines are fortified with grape spirit before all residual sugar ferments, matured in oak, and blended to an average of 40 years of ageing. Kobrand reports approximately 3% volume loss per year during cask maturation and an acidity of 5.3 g/L without identifying the acidity type or analytical basis. Taylor’s says the wine is ready to drink, requires no decanting and should be served slightly chilled at 12–16°C.
Tasting Notes Olive-gold; dried fruit, honey and spice; nutmeg, roasted coffee and intense nuttiness; rich, intense, voluptuous and almost viscous texture; exceptionally long finish.
Food Pairing Desserts featuring figs, almonds or caramel; crème brûlée; wild strawberries; walnuts or dried fruit; it may also be served alone after a meal.
