Production Details Hand-picked fruit comes from low-yielding old vineyards in Cima Corgo, planted at 4,000 vines per hectare and trained to Guyot and Royat. The grapes are predominantly foot-trodden in lagares. The wine ages for 3 years in large old oak/large wooden vats at Niepoort’s Vila Nova de Gaia lodges and is bottled early to preserve its youth, dark colour, freshness and fruit. The raw producer record additionally lists dry extract 130.30, Baumé 3.60, density 1.0230, total acidity 4.00, volatile acidity 0.20 and total SO2 39 without displaying their units or the acidity-equivalent basis; these figures are therefore retained here rather than proposed as canonical numeric analytical claims.
Tasting Notes Full-bodied, with concentrated tannins; intense dark plums and blackberries, a hint of chocolate, good freshness and well-integrated dark fruit
