Production Details This is a blend of component wines averaging 10 years old. Grapes are hand-picked in September/October and foot-trodden during fermentation in lagares. Maturation takes place over many years in 550 L small old oak casks in Vila Nova de Gaia before blending by Master Blender José Nogueira. The vineyards are Guyot- and Royat-trained; the structured record reports a planting density of 4,000 but does not expose its unit. It also reports dry extract 132.90, Baumé 3.80, density 1.0240, volatile acidity 0.38, total acidity 4.38 and total SO2 86 without exposing all applicable units or the total-acidity equivalent basis, so these observations are not normalized into incompatible canonical analytical fields. Mistral recommends serving at 14–16°C, retained as a range rather than converted to serving_temp_c. Package-specific context: the separate 1.5 L demijohn format was bottled in October 2024, with 250 demijohns produced; that date and quantity are not generalized to the standard 750 mL or 375 mL releases.
Tasting Notes Tawny colour; dried apricot; crystallized tangerine peel; nutty character; orange and lemon peel; caramel; honey; sweet dried fruit; full-bodied, structured palate; long, subtle finish
Food Pairing Dried fruits and nuts, including almonds, raisins, peaches and apricots; egg-based desserts; dried-fruit pies; coffee- or vanilla-based desserts; may also be served lightly chilled as an aperitif
