Production Details Hand-picked grapes are foot-trodden in temperature-controlled granite lagares for four hours daily by 25–30 people. The importer release sheet reports fermentation for 2–3 days with 100% stem inclusion and fortification after 50% of fermentation, followed by maturation in 550 L old-oak pipes at Vila Nova de Gaia and blending from old Ports averaging 30 years. The current producer record additionally reports vineyard density 4,000 vines/ha, Guyot and Royat training, dry extract 157.20, Baumé 5.00, density 1.0300, total acidity 6.54, volatile acidity 1.13, total SO2 114, energy 170 kcal/712 kJ and carbohydrates 14; those analytical values are retained here because the API does not expose their units or acid basis sufficiently for the corresponding canonical numeric fields.
Tasting Notes Deep brown with a brown rim and green touch; concentrated coffee and liqueur aromas, continuing onto the palate with a strongly spirituous finish
