Production Details This is a blend of wines from different harvests, so it is encoded NVXX rather than as a harvest vintage. Grapes macerate with their skins and are churned during fermentation at 16–18°C; fermentation is arrested by adding grape brandy. The constituent wines mature in oak casks for variable periods, and their average age defines the 10-year label. Vines are planted across slopes on horizontal terraces, with newer vinha ao alto plantings; elevation is stated only as up to 600 m. The recommended serving range is 8–10°C, and the November 2016 sheet advises drinking within 2–4 months after opening.
Tasting Notes Gold colour; elegant and complex; spice, dried fruit and subtle wood aromas; smooth and round palate with intense dried-fruit flavours and an excellent finish
Food Pairing Serve as a chilled aperitif or with foie gras, vol-au-vent, scallop gratin, mushroom risotto, crème brûlée, custard-filled crispy crepe, spicy apple crumble or blue cheese such as Stilton; it may also be served alone
