Production Details This is a multi-year age-indicated Tawny blend. Two significant component lots are identified: the 1969 “CAS Reserve” and a lot comprising wines from 1970 and 1973 that was blended in 1982; more than 50% evaporated during the ensuing decades. Selected wines are matured in seasoned oak casks until peak maturity. The specification also records Baumé 7.3, recommends serving slightly chilled, and states that decanting is not required.
Tasting Notes Deep orange-brown with a dark walnut base and pale green rim; aromas of orange blossom, fruitcake, toffee, tobacco and butterscotch; substantial, rich and creamy, with vibrant acidity and notes of seasoned wood, nutmeg and cinnamon; lingering finish.
Food Pairing Mature cheeses, nuts, or creamy desserts; it may also be enjoyed as a dessert in its own right.
