Production Details Block One was planted in spring 1999 and uses rootstock 3309. For the 2024 wine, 100% hand-harvested fruit was bunch-sorted directly into a closed-top oak cuve and fermented as 100% whole clusters, including seven days of carbonic fermentation. The fruit was then destemmed and returned to the fermenter for a further two weeks. After fermentation, the wine underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques, 22% new, and matured for 10 months. It was unfined and coarsely filtered. The producer recommends serving slightly chilled at 14–16°C; decanting is optional but beneficial.
Tasting Notes Evocative, brambly and earthy nose with a savoury flow; tactile, sinewy whole-bunch tannins; plush, open-knit silky texture anchored by a mineral spine; ripe black-cherry core; long, savoury and detailed finish.
Food Pairing Spring lamb, duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto
