Production Details Grapes came from hillside vineyards around Bertani's historic Grezzana estate in Valpantena, Verona; vines were vertically trellised and Guyot-trained. Following a long cold skin maceration, slow fermentation was started by native Bertani yeasts. The wine was drawn off while still slightly sweet and completed a final slow fermentation in wood. It matured for 18 months in traditional 750 L Veronese chestnut- and cherry-wood casks, followed by 6 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes Intense ruby red; redcurrant, blackberry, cocoa powder, black pepper, cloves and nutmeg; red fruit, sour cherry, concentrated cherry, black tea, fine powdery tannins and a coffee-bean finish; plush, weighty, complex, young and vibrant.
