2019 Technical Specifications
Grape Varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco
Region Toscana
Soil Rocky galestro soils at the elevated ruffoli sites.
Oak Types French oak
Production Details Hand-selected Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco underwent lot-scale micro-vinification and about nine months of maturation in French barriques. The final blend was assembled through extensive sampling, rested in concrete over winter, and received further bottle ageing before release. The producer notes earlier picking, lighter lees contact, pre-fermentation stirring, more sparing bâtonnage and reduced reliance on new oak for recent vintages.
Tasting Notes Straw yellow with golden reflections; orange blossom, citrus peel, mango, papaya, passion fruit, iodine, toasted bread and vegetable butter; full-bodied and fresh, with tropical fruit, oriental spice and a persistent finish. With age, mushroom, nut and tobacco notes emerge.
Food Pairing Rich and creamy dishes, especially chickpea coconut curry, vegetable stir-fry with garlic and ginger, miso-tahini butternut-squash soup, maitake ramen, mushroom dishes, porcini risotto, mushroom Bourguignon pot pie and truffled chickpea sformatino; very hot and spicy dishes are discouraged.
