2019 Technical Specifications

Classification Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG
Region Montefalco Sagrantino
Production Details The producer’s estate-level 2019 report describes a later-than-usual, prolonged harvest with balanced quantities and very ripe, healthy grapes. Cold, wet April and May delayed and disrupted budding; June was hot and dry; late July brought 40 mm of rain; late August rain slowed ripening; 60 mm fell on 22–23 September; and mostly clear, dry, mild October conditions favored the late-ripening grapes. The resulting 2019 Montefalco Sagrantino wines showed excellent polyphenolic maturity and strong aromatic intensity.
Tasting Notes Ruby red with garnet hues, compact and bright; sophisticated balsamic, floral and fruity aromas, with mentholated medicinal herbs, cardamom, passion flower, mugwort, liquorice, wood, vanilla, blood orange, pomegranate and strawberry; enveloping, fresh and persistent, with gentle tannins and a savory finish.
