Soil Alluvial-plain soil composed of 70% gravel, 15% silt, And 15% clay
Orientation South-Facing
Fermentation Vessels Temperature-controlled steel tanks followed by new barriques
Production Details The sustainably cultivated vineyard area is 26 ha, at 290–390 m elevation, with south-facing exposure, 12,800 vines/ha, and Guyot training. Drip irrigation prevented water stress during the dry season; a September 2 hailstorm caused a 45% production loss, followed by painstaking selection of grapes in plateaux. Fermentation occurs at around 28°C in temperature-controlled steel tanks with automated punching down for approximately 15 days, including the final two days described as maceration. After decanting in mid-January, the wine enters new barriques, where very slow fermentation continues for a further 18 months; total time in barriques for the 2017 vintage was 36 months.
