Production Details Vin & Natur documents organic methods without certification, slow spontaneous fermentation and lees maturation in mostly used 350-L barrels, no malolactic conversion, bottling without filtration, and at least 36 months sur lattes under natural cork. Low SO2 was added at pressing and after alcoholic fermentation; organic yeast and sugar were used for tirage and organic concentrated grape must for dosage. Release specifications differ: the producer page's Antonio Galloni quotation describes a January 2023 disgorgement at 4 g/L dosage, while Vin & Natur documents a January 2024 disgorgement at 2 g/L dosage and 3 g/L residual sugar. These are retained as distinct release contexts rather than generalized as vintage-wide dosage, disgorgement or residual-sugar values. Planting information also conflicts: Vin & Natur reports massal-selection vines planted in 1902 and 1970, whereas The Rare Wine Co.'s generic cuvée sheet reports 1964 and 1970; the producer gives an age of 59 years but no planting years.
Tasting Notes Powerful and stony, with a strong personality, lively and fleshy structure, very soft bubbles, a substantial old-vine texture and a long iodized finish; chalk and citrus accents.
Food Pairing Open-sea oysters
2016 Technical Specifications
Region Ludes
Production Details A Wine Advocate review excerpt reproduced on the producer's official page states that the reviewed 2016 release was disgorged in February 2020. Because this is review/release-specific information, it is not generalized into a vintage-wide disgorgement-date claim.
Tasting Notes William Kelley, Wine Advocate: pear, citrus oil, blanched almonds, fresh bread and vanilla pod; medium-bodied, tangy and chiseled, with a chalky structure, richer than Le Cran but more austere and acid-driven than the 2015 counterpart.
