Production Details Neal Martin rated the exact La Maltroie release 94–96 points in November 2024. The importer’s broader 2023 account says almost all domaine wines were 12.5–13% alcohol and that all were made in 350-litre barrels unless cuvée size required another vessel; it does not identify La Maltroie’s exact alcohol or whether it was an exception.
Tasting Notes Orange blossom, crushed stone and light citrus aromas; textured and slightly honeyed on the palate, with substantial depth, a fine line of acidity, power, precision and finesse.

2022 Technical Specifications

Alcohol 13.0%
Grape Varieties 100% Chardonnay
Drinking Window 2030–2042
Region La Maltroie
Soil Clay-limestone terroir with limestone and flint
Pressing Method Grapes Were Crushed And Cooled Before A Long Pressing; Solids Were Not Settled Out After Pressing.
Contains Added Sulfites Yes
Production Details Domaine-wide 2022 context: white-wine picking began on 21 August; grape degrees at picking were 12.4–13%, followed by light chaptalization to 13.2–13.5%. Wines used 350-litre barrels, received no post-pressing settling or lees stirring, underwent an early rapid fermentation, and completed malolactic fermentation by Christmas. The picking date is the start for the domaine’s whites, not a La Maltroie-specific harvest date, and the alcohol figures concern grapes/must rather than this finished wine.
Tasting Notes Ripe white peach and pear, acacia and linden blossom, stony minerality, hazelnut and almond; rounded and silky yet fresh, with a long saline and lightly smoky finish.
Food Pairing Sea bass, turbot, poultry in delicate sauce, shellfish, Brie de Meaux or lobster.
