Production Details Grapes were harvested and sorted by hand; destemmed-fruit and whole-cluster proportions varied with the vintage. Daily punch-downs were used, with approximately 19 days of vatting. The wine matured for 16 months in fine-grained, moderately toasted French oak barrels comprising 40–50% new oak and 50–60% one-wine barrels, under naturally stable cellar temperature and humidity.
Tasting Notes Producer note: bright garnet; delicate fruity and oaky aromas; black cherry and toasted flavours, firm balanced tannins, elegance and delicacy.
2016 Technical Specifications
Grape Varieties Pinot Noir
Drinking Window 2026-2036
Classification Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru
Region La Combe d'Orveau
Fermentation Vessels Small tank
Production Details Because 2016 production was nearly 90% below normal, the wine was made like Faiveley's Musigny: 50% was destemmed by hand, it was vinified in a small tank, aged in a new feuillette and bottled directly from that barrel. Only about one small feuillette was produced following severe frost losses.
Tasting Notes Vinous (January 2018): bright ruby-red, smoky mineral reduction with fresh-blood and mocha suggestions; plush, saline, powerful and long. Burghound (January 2018): supple, velvety, mineral, lacy and racy, with evident wood and mocha.
