Production Details The grapes were handpicked, initially sorted in the vineyard and then rigorously sorted again at the winery so that only the ripest clusters were retained. Whole bunches underwent vinification for nearly three weeks. The wine matured for 18 months in “semi-new” oak barrels—new barrels rinsed for a few months with another wine to reduce the impact of new oak.
Tasting Notes Dark red with bluish tinges; intense cherry, blueberry, fruit jellies, gingerbread, cinnamon, juniper, humus, heather, candied walnuts and beeswax; airy, velvety, dense and delicate palate with jam, raspberry liqueur, integrated acidity, minerality and graphite.
Critics Ratings Jasper Morris: 91-95/100; Neil Beckett: 95-96/100
