2022 Technical Specifications
Region En Orveaux
Production Details For the 2022 vintage, the producer reported that the domaine harvest began on 25 August and took five days, finishing within August; the reported 42 hl/ha was explicitly an across-the-domaine yield, not this vineyard’s yield. The red wines were planned for bottling no earlier than spring after eighteen months of élevage. The Échézeaux fruit was described as coming from Combe d’Orveau behind Clos de Vougeot, from vines planted in 1946 by Justine Clerget’s grandfather.
Tasting Notes Burgundy Report, tasted 1 December 2023: initially tight and slightly reductive nose; expansive palate with velour texture; intense, pure finish; classy but still shy.

Production Details During the October 2022 assessment of the 2021 wine, Justine Clerget said it needed eighteen months of élevage. The merchant’s producer profile gives broader, non-vintage-specific context: Échézeaux is normally put into barrel after alcoholic fermentation and settling, remains without racking until bottling, receives about 40% new wood, and undergoes 18–20 months of élevage.
Tasting Notes Lea & Sandeman, October 2022: substantial weight expressed with finesse, harmonious texture, rich concentration and fine tannins.

Production Details The quoted Inside Burgundy assessment reports 50% whole-bunch fermentation and says most original vines were planted in 1947. That assessment reports 13.5% alcohol, whereas the merchant’s finished-bottle specification lists 14.00%; the 13.5% figure is therefore retained as a contextual conflict rather than a second finished-wine alcohol value. The reported 1947 planting date also differs from the producer’s standing technical sheet, which gives 1945 and 1946.
Tasting Notes Jasper Morris/Inside Burgundy: elegant bouquet; pure palate; peppery, smoky and sandalwood-inflected finish. Burghound: red and dark raspberry, floral and exotic-tea aromas; rich, concentrated flavors; firm, austere and powerful finish.
