Production Details For the 2013 white-wine range, none of the wines had been racked at the February tasting, the lees had been stirred only three times, and no SO2 had yet been added. The producer described an oxidative, non-interventionist approach intended to let oxidizable material precipitate naturally instead of being removed by fining or filtration, and said the wines were bottled with elevated CO2 of approximately 1000 mm and should be decanted. Champ Canet specifically underwent a very slow alcoholic fermentation.
Tasting Notes Stephen Tanzer described fresh and dried peach and apricot, hazelnut oil, a dense and sappy palate, classical dryness, tactile thickness, mineral cut, explosive fruit and a very long finish. Burghound separately reported lactic-tinged aromas, excellent vibrancy and richness, a textured and mouth-coating palate, and a complex, balanced, lingering finish.
