Classification Premier Cru

Production Details Burghound assessed the wine before bottling. The 2023 whites were scheduled for bottling in November 2025, a full 27 months after harvest. The long élevage used no added protection, allowing oxidizable material to precipitate naturally rather than be removed through fining or filtration. At assessment the wines had completed malolactic fermentation but had not been racked and remained gassy. The producer recommends decanting young bottles because the whites are bottled with elevated CO2.
Tasting Notes Burghound pre-bottling assessment: exuberantly floral, with white orchard fruit, citrus rind and delicate spice; impressive density, medium weight, fine length and a balanced finish, though with somewhat limited depth at the time of tasting.

Production Details The wine combined Charmes du Haut and Charmes du Bas material from a grower described as producing very low yields and strong ripeness. The 2016 cru program produced only one to three barrels per cru. Wines were aged entirely on their lees with gentle bâtonnage a few times each month and were not racked during that period. The naturally cool cellar delayed malolactic fermentation until late summer. Bottling was performed by hand using gravity feed after a full moon, with no fining, filtration or sulfur addition at bottling.
Tasting Notes Vinous assessment: bright lemon-yellow; apple, lemon, white peach and spice; rich and dense, with dusty dry extract, full ripeness, penetrating acidity, a chewy palate and a thick, saturating finish. Burghound assessment: airy red-cherry, raspberry and spice aromas with soft wood and earth; vibrant, detailed and lingering, emphasizing finesse over power.
