Grape Varieties Predominantly Cariñena with 20% Garnacha
Classification DOQ Priorat
Region Priorat
Soil Llicorella schist on steep coster slopes
Sites El Lloar, Porrera, Torroja, El Molar and Bellmunt
Production Details The grapes came from vines more than 80 years old. For the 2017 vintage, the producer increased the presence of old Cariñena, shortened skin contact to emphasize freshness and floral character, and shifted maturation away from barrels toward 1,500 L foudres for gentler oak influence. The vintage was dry and slightly warmer than usual, with cooler, dry conditions during September maturation.

Production Details Fruit came from 80–100-year-old vines across approximately 13 ha, with warm-zone parcels around 250 m and cooler parcels around 550 m. Grapes were rigorously selected and each lot was vinified separately in small stainless-steel tanks. Seventy percent of the wine matured for 18 months in new French-oak barrels, while 30% matured in 25 hL foudres to reduce oak impact. The 2016 growing season was extremely dry, requiring additional selection during harvest and winery intake.
