2013 Technical Specifications

Grape Varieties Riesling
Classification Auslese
Region Rheinhessen
Soil Heavy clay marl with limestone inclusions over a strongly rocky, Water-bearing limestone subsoil
Orientation South
Production Details John Gilman's March 2014 review says the wine came predominantly from golden berries. Separately, VDP describes the classified Morstein vineyards as a south-facing mid-slope at 180–240 metres elevation with a 20–25% gradient; those ranges are site-level rather than Keller-parcel- or vintage-specific.
Tasting Notes Pear, lime, orange, orange zest, bee pollen, white flowers and limestone-like minerality; deep, medium-full and succulent, with pronounced focus, purity, grip and a very long, racy finish.
