Drinking Window 2027–2038
Classification Grosses Gewächs; Alte Reben
Region Rheinhessen
Pressing Method Basket Press
Barrel Size 225
Production Details No cold maceration; the Kellers were increasing their use of whole clusters for Spätburgunder, followed by open mash fermentation and maturation in 225-litre barrels. Klaus-Peter Keller explained that the higher whole-cluster proportion reduced alcohol by about 0.5% vol and that open mash fermentation reduced it by approximately another 0.5% vol; these are process effects, not the finished wine's reported alcohol.
Tasting Notes Ethereal herbal and stony-mineral notes, bright berry fruit, sour cherry, forest berries and delicate florals; finesse and depth with a juicy, concentrated mid-palate and particularly fine, silky tannins.
