Production Details Made from shrivelled, botrytised berries; this rare TBA is not produced every year. Trade information describes hand selection at full ripeness, while the Parker excerpt specifies selection over several vineyard passes for suitable botrytis fruit. The release was offered in 0.375 L bottles and identified as AP 73 20; serving guidance is not to decant and to serve at 8–10 °C. A 2018-labelled VOM FASS sheet reports 5.5% alcohol, 8.8 g/L total acidity and 335 g/L residual sugar but explicitly identifies these as averages that may vary between vintages, so its acidity and residual-sugar figures are not proposed as exact 2018 analytical values. That sheet recommends drinking from ‘now’ through 2034. Mosel Fine Wines rated the release 96+.
Tasting Notes Vigneron (Summer 2023) describes freshness, tenderness, gingerbread, dried apricot, Corinth raisins, soft caramel, fruit paste and lightly saline and peppery notes. Mosel Fine Wines (October 2020) records honey, fig, prune, cherry, acacia, toffee, almond paste, roasted pineapple, mirabelle, dried apricot, baked spices, raisin, nut paste and apple jelly, with a viscous texture and clear botrytis character. The Parker excerpt, tasted in March 2021, describes a pure, fresh, concentrated and dense wine with a saline-piquant, mouthwatering finish.
Food Pairing Rich desserts such as crème brûlée, tarte Tatin, fruit tarts, tiramisu and chocolate desserts; spicy or mature cheeses, including blue cheese and aged Gouda; it may also be served as an aperitif.
