2014 Technical Specifications

Region Mosel
Production Details The producer began a day earlier than planned by picking selected Scharzhofberg and Wiltinger braune Kupp plots before heavy rain. The estate harvested before the grapes became completely botrytized; high sugar and acidity accompanied some Auslese, but only a small barrel of Scharzhofberger Auslese Goldkapsel was selected.

Production Details The producer's estate harvest ran from October 21 to November 1 over ten picking days. Grapes were generally healthy, must weights were good, acidity was very high and noble rot was scarce. Trockenbeerenauslese-level fruit was picked during the first two days, but rain on October 23 and 26 limited Scharzhofberger Auslese Goldkapsel to one small barrel; the stated 11 hl/ha yield is the estate-wide vintage average, not a wine-specific yield.
