Production Details The grapes were picked at 145° Oechsle; this is a grape/must ripeness measurement, not finished-wine alcohol or residual sugar. The auction lot comprised the more shriveled and botrytised berries progressively selected during the Auslese harvest. It was bottled somewhat earlier than the other 2015 Dr. Loosen Auslesen for the 16 September 2016 auction and bears A.P. #61.
Tasting Notes Stephan Reinhardt (April 2017) described a clear, fresh, mineral bouquet with grapefruit and lemon, followed by a rich, sweet, elegant palate with vital acidity and fresh fruit. David Schildknecht (June 2017) reported orange and anise liqueur, a creamy, glycerol-rich and oily palate, fresh lime and orange, and a penetrating, sharply acidic finish. Mosel Fine Wines' Auction Guide 2016 noted pear, pineapple, coconut, almond-infused herbs, exotic fruit, grapefruit and zesty acidity. James Suckling (May 2017) added concentrated mango, mineral acidity and bitter almond on the finish.
