Production Details The 2023 Steinriegl site was affected by hail, and insufficient yield prevented production of a Smaragd, leaving this Federspiel release. Hand-harvested grapes were pressed directly and underwent spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at 63°F for 34 days. The wine matured seven months before bottling in 4,000-L stainless-steel tanks and received two months of bottle aging. Dry extract was 22 g/L, and the stated aging tanks were seven years old.
Tasting Notes Flinty reduction, bright lime and lemon, a fine-boned stony palate, graceful citrus character and a slightly astringent finish (Vinous, 2023 release).
