Production Details Rocking Horse is Thorne & Daughters' cornerstone wine, named after a wooden rocking horse made from old oak barrel staves. The 2021-2022 growing season showed a sharp contrast of a cool, wet spring followed by a very hot and dry January, with disease pressure early in the season. Yields were moderate and careful selection ensured strong cellar quality. The grapes were picked early based mostly on taste, whole-bunch pressed with no juice treatments or additions, then racked off heavy solids into old oak barrels of various volumes. The wines were fermented naturally, allowed to go through malolactic fermentation, then received sulphur dioxide after settling.
