Production Details Rocking Horse is Thorne & Daughters' cornerstone wine, named after a wooden rocking horse made from old oak barrel staves. A warm dry winter in 2022 set the tone for an average-sized crop with generally small berries and good concentration. December rains helped the season progress and the grapes were harvested before rain at the end of the season. The grapes were picked early based mostly on taste, whole-bunch pressed with no juice treatments or additions, then racked off heavy solids into old oak barrels of various volumes. The wines were fermented naturally, allowed to go through malolactic fermentation, then received sulphur dioxide after settling.
