Production Details Grapes from three finest plots of Hugel estate in chalky Pflostig taken in small tubs to presses filled by gravity, without pumping or mechanical intervention. Must decanted for few hours, then fermented in temperature-controlled vats at 18-24°C. Fermented in used Pinot Noir barrels, kept on lees with bâtonnage, underwent malolactic fermentation. Lightly filtered before bottling in spring. Bottles aged extensively in family cellars. Vintage with 12 days of extreme cold in February (-18°C), early April budburst, uneven flowering, damp early summer but superb August. Harvest September 24, 2012. Well-balanced wines similar to 2011 but richer with more depth. No SGN produced in 2012.
